Dormouse - notelet (A6)
ON THE BACK:
Hazel dormice can be readily identified by their fury tail, large eyes and ears and their paws that can turn sideways (for climbing). They are found predominantly in southern and central England and Wales, preferring hedgerows and deciduous woodland. They are rarely seen, but their presence in an area can be deduced by both the distinctive way in which they chew hazelnuts and their 10-15cm ball-shaped nests of woven material.
