ON THE BACK:
Sunsets are red in colour because, with the setting of the sun, its light must travel through far more of the earth’s atmosphere before reaching the observer than would be the case if the sun was overhead. In doing so, the blue light and most of the green is scattered leaving the reds, oranges and yellows to come through. If there are any clouds in the sky at the time, they reflect the colours produced by the sun.
