Twin tawny owl chicks fledged from a "barn owl" box in my roof space (see below), one on the evening of 28th April, the other soon after dawn the following morning. Within 72hrs both had safely made it along the hedgeline and into the nearby wood 250m away. Now, every evening at dusk they can be heard calling to be fed, one with a slightly higher pitched call than the other. On a quiet night their calls can carry 150m or more. They will remain in the area, being fed by their parents, until they disperse in late summer.
Try listening out for some near you!
